Yalata is a small Aboriginal community in South Australia. It runs parallel to the Nullabor Highway and is about 1000km west of Adelaide. Dr Jill Benson, Medical Director in Yalata, has heard great things about Montessori and is working to provide a Montessori 0-3 programme for the young children and parents of this isolated community. MCF funded Montessori teacher, Jill Vizec, will visit this community to work with Dr Benson and consult on the establishment of the programme.

Yalata now has a community kitchen and space built for the Montessori area. The community is hoping to start a two days per week programme in 2011 for children aged six months to three years, their mothers and pregnant women. MCF is currently fundraising to supply the materials for this new programme.
