The Foundation will raise funds and grant to projects in the following areas: Indigenous and Remote CommunitiesThe Foundation supports Montessori programs in remote and indigenous communities. The ultimate aim is that all children in Australia will have the possibility of attending a Montessori program regardless of their location or socio-economic circumstances. Projects are currently underway in the following areas: Redfern, Cairns West, Woorabinda and Cape York. In addition, the following regions have expressed interest in establishing Montessori programs: Thursday Island, Armidale and in the Northern Territory. An important focus in facilitating this goal is the training of indigenous Montessori teachers. Scholarships and Tuition AssistanceThe Foundation will raise money for and administer a Montessori Scholarship Fund. Scholarships and tuition assistance will be offered for adults to undertake Montessori Teacher Training and for children to attend Montessori Schools. Assistance to Infancy and Parent EducationInvaluable assistance can be given to infancy through an understanding of child development and the development of the human mind. This awareness allows environments to be prepared to meet the needs of infants and foster independence and optimal development. The Foundation will facilitate projects that support parents, families and communities in their task of nurturing young children. Montessori Institute and Research CentreThe Foundation will raise funds to establish and support a Montessori Institute and Research Centre. The Institute will be a centre for Montessori study, training and research. Public Awareness and AdvocacyThe ultimate aim of the Montessori movement is to place all the children in our world at the centre of society and to assist them in becoming the transforming elements leading to a harmonious and peaceful humanity. The Foundation will actively seek to champion the cause of all children through advocacy and by increasing public awareness. Montessori Adolescent ProgrammesThe Foundation will work to support the establishment of Montessori Adolescent Programmes and other services that benefit adolescents. The Foundation will also encourage research, study and the application of Montessori’s ideas for young people aged from 12 to 18. |
